KSDE Manager Certification Program
Preparing Managers for Success with the Keys to Excellence
Child Nutrition Manager Certification is sponsored by Child Nutrition & Wellness at the Kansas State Department of Education. Three levels of achievement are recognized based upon completion of Child Nutrition Management Academy Classes. Child Nutrition Management Academy classes are held at regional locations in June. Class fees are currently $25 per
6-hour day. In early April the class schedule is posted and online registration is available at www.kn-eat.org.

Developing & Recognizing Child Nutrition Managers
Child Nutrition Management Academy is a professional development program for current and aspiring managers and directors. Managing and leading a Child Nutrition Program is a challenging job! A wide range of knowledge, skills and abilities is required. The goal of the Child Nutrition Management Academy is to develop knowledgeable and effective managers who are prepared to lead their programs to excellence.

Rising to the 21st Century’s Challenges & Opportunities
Child nutrition management is about constant change! The Child Nutrition Management Academy will help prepare participants to succeed in a rapidly changing environment. Classes are designed around priorities identified by KSDE’s staff of Child Nutrition consultants, statewide needs assessment surveys, and the School Nutrition Association’s “Keys to Excellence” program. In addition, KSDE periodically convenes the Keys to Excellence Task Force to obtain input from exceptional Kansas school food service directors and managers.
