Developing & Recognizing Child Nutrition Managers
The Kansas Certificate in Child Nutrition Management is a program sponsored by Child Nutrition & Wellness at the Kansas State Department of Education and approved by the Kansas State Board of Education. To receive a Kansas Certificate in Child Nutrition Management, 120 hours of Kansas State Department of Education Child Nutrition & Wellness approved management classes must be completed. See the brochure for a list of eligible classes. All classes must have been completed after January 1, 2012.

The Kansas Certificate in Child Nutrition Management is professional development for current and aspiring managers and directors. Managing and leading a Child Nutrition Program is a challenging job. A wide range of knowledge, skills and abilities is required. The goal of the Child Nutrition Management Academy is to develop knowledgeable and effective managers who are prepared to lead their programs to excellence.

Child Nutrition Management classes are offered throughout the year and select classes are available at the KSDE Learning Portal, https://learning.ksde.org. View current class schedules and registration information by clicking on the training tab.

 
Rising to the 21st Century’s Challenges & Opportunities
Child Nutrition Management is About Constant Change! By working towards the Kansas Certificate in Child Nutrition Management, participants will be prepared to succeed in a rapidly changing environment. Classes are designed around priorities identified by KSDE's Child Nutrition & Wellness team, statewide needs assessments surveys, and the School Nutrition Association's "Keys to Excellence" program. In addition, KSDE periodically convenes the Child Nutrition & Wellness Advisory Council to obtain input from exceptional Kansas child nutrition program directors and managers.
